1. Selection of vacuum pressure

When selecting the setting, leave a margin according to the specification of the vacuum source

When the jet vacuum generator is used, the vacuum degree in the vacuum suction cup is generally set within the range of 63% to 95% of the maximum vacuum degree of the vacuum generator. Annie Weiss vacuum chuck experts suggest that if the adsorbed workpiece has ventilation and rough surface, additional experimental calculation is required.

2. Diameter calculation of vacuum suction cup

When the suction cup is round, it is calculated according to the following formula

D: Required suction cup diameter (mm)

M: Workpiece weight (kg)

S: Safety factor (horizontal lifting s = 4, vertical lifting s = 8)

n: Number of suction cups

P: Vacuum pressure (- kPa)

In consideration of the adsorbable size (surface) of the adsorbed workpiece, the selected suction cup diameter shall be set to be larger than the required suction cup diameter (d) obtained according to the catalog. Because the suction cup will deform when adsorbing the workpiece, the outer diameter of the suction cup should be increased by about 10%. If the calculated suction cup diameter exceeds the value in the catalog, it shall be calculated as more than 2. If the suction cup is not round, it shall be calculated separately.
